Barra de Ibiraquera, SC, Brazil. By Bhuvi

The night was falling
And nothing seemed to work.
I left the house for a walk
But fear would still lurk.

I closed my eyes
That feeling was exiled
While breathing in the fragrance
Of your presence, oh! so wild.

My body shivered
Something moved from tip to toe
There was a drum playing rhythms
Stirring up my soul.

But then, how come you aren’t here?
How come I can’t see you?
I decided to cross the ocean,
My own captain without a crew.

What an odd existence:
So far and yet so close
Your voice still ran in me
Like the perfume of a rose.

Unable to extend the delay
I hopped on a boat
Carrying with me nothing
Except this poem I wrote.

I have sailed through chaos,
The calm and the storm.
Now cruising through time,
The memory of you keeps me warm.

Jokes and laughter,
Stories and smiles,
Saying that I love you
Goes beyond any style.

It is twilight now,
I give up my words,
silently praying
that you'll return with the birds.
